Just got my new 4720, and I have Imatch on it for the MX6.....My question is why doesn't John Deere make a plow system for Imatch to make my life easier? The Dealer said most people use the disc type, but my dad insist on me getting a double rear plow.......

Any help or ideas?

Jerry,

Congrats on the new tractor. I'm sure you will love it.

One of the reasons I haven’t warmed up to the Imatch is that there are implements that are either too expensive or just plain not available to fit it. That's why I prefer the extendable lower link arms. Slightly less convenient, but it fits everything. And if you are using a PTO, you have to get off the tractor anyway.

Best of luck.

So if I buy the plow pictured above, I need the extendable lower link arms as well? Or do I just take the iMatch off, and put the plow on.....

Well, there is always the chance that the plow will fit the iMatch, but yes, if it doesn't you take off the iMatch, and hook the plow up to the 3pt that came with the tractor.

Jerry... I think you would have to take the I Match off in any event. The right link will have to be adjusted to level the plow when the tractor is in the furrow. That will require that you shorten the right side link. That is not possible with the I match mounted I would not think. Just a guess since I don't own an I Match. i too use extenable lower links and I think they work as well as any other system available.

I agree with the recommendation of getting a disc. Much simpler and better in the rocks

I don't know what you are planning on doing with the plow but most likely you are going to need to disk it as well. The plow will just turn over big clumps of dirt (at least thats all ours seems to do....) and you will have to run over it with a disk anyways. IMHO unless the ground has never been worked you don't need the plow.

The telescoping lower link arms are nothing more than arms that can slide in and out a couple of inches. That way you don't have to move the tractor or implement back and forth to line things up. They are strictly a convenience item and not really needed for anything. The fixed links work just fine, but you have to do a little more bull work at times to get things hooked up.

Your plow will go on just fine without them.

I am turning over dirt where there is grass now....Never been worked and my father is convinced to only use plows (How they did it in Italy).....After we plow it, going to plant potatoes......I think the plow I found will work fine, Tractor Supply is getting some in next week, so I will give them a try....

I also might buy the "Pats Easy Change System" and use that for the plow and spreader I want.....
