Hello,
Hope someone can give me some insight as to what the problem may be with my early 90's deere LX176. It starts fine when I have my foot on the brake, but when I remove my foot, it stalls out. I've checked out some electrical connections in the dash, but can't figure it out. I posted this over in Lawn and Garden but the grass is getting long and I need her fixed soon! Thank you, Steve

check your air filter and see if it is plugged. a plugged air filter will make you lose power.

If you have a bad seat switch it could cause this problem, sometimes the foam seat hardens when it gets old, sometimes it is just the switch. Check the seat switch connections and wiring too.

On my LT133 there was a switch underneath the right hand foot rest that prevented the mower from starting if the brake was not set. This went bad and caused the mower to not start. Maybe you have a similar problem with your mower.

Thanks for posting. I have the seat switch bypassed so I can get off and keep it running. It stalls out when I remove my foot from the brake, which needs to be engaged to start the tractor. I think you may be right, a switch somewhere....
