I'm planning to order the technical manual for my X330 mower. Deere offers 2 versions, a printed book @ $120, or a CDROM @ $60.

Is anyone familiar with their CDROM manuals? Is it one big pdf file? Easy to navigate, look up things, etc.? I like printed manuals, but this one's expensive, so if I can use the CDROM & print whatever few pages I need for a specific task, that would be good.

Thanks!

Stevedore,

Welcome to TBN.

While I have not purchased a CD from JD, I have been able to down load several from the internet.

All I ones I have are one large PDF. As you said, easy to print the pages that you are interested in.

I say, go for it.

If you "Searched" the forum you would find this question already answered.

CD version is an 'active' file with internal 'hot-links' to other chapters and sub-assemblies. But it is exactly the same as the book with its 'cold-links' in print.

At half-price and with the ability to print the pages/sections/diagrams you need it works for me.

No need to search when you can just ask the question. TBN members have a good habit of answering questions cheerfully..

I bought the CD. I had a print shop print the whole manual, both sides of the pages. They also drilled the pages for a 3 ring binder. Cost was $0.10 a page.

Wow, I guess that you really wanted a printed version.

Thanks for the replies; the CDROM sounds like a good choice for me.

I got the CD as well. You can download the CD to a PDF file on your computer. I have an old laptop that is so slow and out of date it has lost all practical uses except for one. It holds my tractor tech manuals and other various manuals of equipment I have. Thing never leaves the garage. If I need to research something or order a part it's right there.
