The Deerfield fair starts Thursday 9/25 and runs until Sun 9/28.
Lots of tractor displays. My favorite ag fair in NH.

Unfortunately I have commitments and will have to miss it this year /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Thanks for the info about the tractor displays!! - I will be taking the family to it one day this week. (looks like showers on Sat/Sun tho. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif)

We never have been to this fair - looking forward to the AG part seeing we are slowly leaning into hobby farming. Need to talk to some people about lambs, fencing, feed, etc. etc.

My youngest kid is all excited about the midway stuff - ah to be a kid again. I remember when the cork guns/ a squirt guns were 25cent to 50cents a try, went to a fair last summer and they are up to $2 an 3$ bucks a pop /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Ole Dad will be dropping some $ - but theyre only young once.

Should be a good time - sorry your committments don't allow you enough time.

Valkman,
If you go - can you post your experiences. usually someone from NH will start such a thread. That way someone like me can see what I'm missing.

Also see if you can find the funnel cake vendor. Its an Amish treat similar to the fried dough New Englanders eat. It is very good and the Deerfield fair is the only place I have ever seen it up here.

Took the family this weekend. Bought a funnel cake just for you! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif There were actually two vendors this year. One right next the Massey dealer! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif It was nice to see all the tractors. Sticker shock as usual. $26,000 for a JD 4115, FEL, and 46 Hoe. Wasn't impressed with the 46 BH, glad I didn't wait. Was looking at snowblowers at MB. Gentlemen asked me if I needed a tractor, told him no, but I need a snowblower. He then asked me what I had and I responded a NH TC24. His response: "What! you bought a New Holland!" I looked him straight in the eye and said "You sell New Hollands!" Then I left. $6000 for the Woods' bh there. I paid a lot less for my NH 756c. Guess they had there special Fair pricing. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Checked out the GC2310 TLB. Nice little machine. There were several there going for $16,900.

Nice fair. Watched some horse pulling. Lousy weather. Traffic in Candia, stinks right now. It's fall.

Phil,
I bought another funnel cake for you as well - better than the fried dough - not as greasy either.
Family had fun, went on the ferris wheel with my youngster, played on the bumper cars, spent too much money on the Midway, but had fun.
Saw the sheep dog demo - great to see those dogs work - we had entertained the idea of getting a sheep dog - but after watching them, they really need to work. Maybe a German Shepherd.
Watched the ox pull, 1 pair was 6400 lbs. Nice people from CT were working them, young boy about 12 won, pleasure to see them work the ox with minimum of roughness. Watched other people who did not train so well had to use way to much switch to get them to work. I know they dont hardly feel it but still the ox flinch in close their eyes. Anyways.
Tried to get the youngster to do the pig catching contest - if you caught it you keep it! He said nope. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Sheep barn was a focus in that we want a couple of grass lambs next year. My wife will probably make them into a pet the ways she was patting the sheep.
Oh yea, tractor - saw the JD, Kubotas, a few NH. Prices were definitely "fair specials" no wonder I went out of state! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Checked out the Iron Horse - verrry rough. Agco was 3k less than my Kubota L3130, 3k well spent. MHO /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Saw a few of the antique tractors and the old implements. Pretty spartan on comforts compared to what we got now.
Oh ya, and ended it with watching the horse show/competition. It was a good full day.

valkman and pekabu,
Thanks for the updates. Really wish I could have made it and had a funnel cake myself. Sounds like you all enjoyed yourselves.
It was pretty wet this weekend but according to the newspaper that did not affect attendance.
I like the pulling oxen too. Did you see them in the barns as well? They are huge - bigger than my first house.

I saw that Iron Horse to. Is that the Northern hydraulics multi named tractor? I don't know who welded that bucket together but wow was it rough. I also checked out the MF's and Agco's. Didn't like the FEL buckets.
