Phil,
I bought another funnel cake for you as well - better than the fried dough - not as greasy either.
Family had fun, went on the ferris wheel with my youngster, played on the bumper cars, spent too much money on the Midway, but had fun.
Saw the sheep dog demo - great to see those dogs work - we had entertained the idea of getting a sheep dog - but after watching them, they really need to work. Maybe a German Shepherd.
Watched the ox pull, 1 pair was 6400 lbs. Nice people from CT were working them, young boy about 12 won, pleasure to see them work the ox with minimum of roughness. Watched other people who did not train so well had to use way to much switch to get them to work. I know they dont hardly feel it but still the ox flinch in close their eyes. Anyways.
Tried to get the youngster to do the pig catching contest - if you caught it you keep it! He said nope. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Sheep barn was a focus in that we want a couple of grass lambs next year. My wife will probably make them into a pet the ways she was patting the sheep.
Oh yea, tractor - saw the JD, Kubotas, a few NH. Prices were definitely "fair specials" no wonder I went out of state! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Checked out the Iron Horse - verrry rough. Agco was 3k less than my Kubota
L3130, 3k well spent. MHO /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Saw a few of the antique tractors and the old implements. Pretty spartan on comforts compared to what we got now.
Oh ya, and ended it with watching the horse show/competition. It was a good full day.
