Definition of vintage tractor,,,,,,

I`m also into WW II vehicles,,,,,thats old suff.

In Norway "veteran vehicles" have to be older than 30 years according to goverment rules with respect to registration fee,rebuilding,assurence etc. Safety controll you have to undergo back to registration year 1960.

"Vintage" vehicle is the "carworld" vehicles for before WW II.

So,, I say that tractors from 1940 and forward is not vintage, but veteran upp to 1982.

Do the "moderator" have any "says" about this quiestion?

I have never heard "veteran" used in autos or tractors. What you are prefering to call "vintage" (IE: 1940 and older), "antique" would be a better term.

Example: 1949 8n ford. To call it a "vetern" 8n just dont sound right. But vintage 8n sounds a whole lot better.

In the antique tractor pullers association down here in NC they typically pull tractors manufactured in the years prior to 1960...
The local antique tractor association here in Hickory basically allows anyone in it that has interest in old tractors...
During their show they have vintage machines that span from the steam engine days to more modern equipment...
Most of their tractors are from the 40's & 50's...
Just my frame of reference I typically think anything from 1960 back to be vintage but that's just me...

Really is just a different name given in Europe/USA. Perhaps the Europeans think any car thats lasted 80 or 90 years has seen a lot of "action"

at out clubs down here.. 60's and older is antique, and 70's are classic.. heck.. anything 80's and newer are pretty much modern..

vintage down here is pretty much anything classic or antique.

i'm sure it's regional idioms..

Same up here. I guess it is like news paper advertizing a classic car show but every car that is there is a rat rod. None that are even close to original.
