Hello

anyone have any expirence with Degelman front blades and/or the equivilent.

I am looking for a blade for my Deere 5525 Tractor....they look interesting but would like pros cons of them etc. My intented use for blade is mainly snow removal.

No I don't have FEL and would prefer not to incur the expense and complexity if a front blade would be suffiicient.

thanks

Dave

Where I live, there are a lot of Degelman blades used on farm tractors especially larger 4x4 tractors. Not as popular as they used to be but still No.1 in useage in my region. I beleive they are very reliable.

I agree. My biggest concern sizing a Degelman, Leon or similar blade for a tractor that size would be ending up with a blade maybe too heavy for some jobs (snow).

appreciate the comments...not really sure how much "heavier" the front blade would be in relation to a FEL with a bucket and/or blade attached?

Trying to avoid a FEL as it reduced visibility, adds complexity, cost and overall dimension of tractor.

Anyone else have any expirence with a Degleman or Leon front blade...any idea of cost?

I priced one for a 4250 John Deere MFWD(110HP) about 4 years ago. An eleven foot model was going to run me about $12,000. I agree with RickB, the biggest concern would be the weight. They are built heavy!

Wow...that is big bucks! now granted I am looking at a lighter duty 8' model but still an entire FEL is only about $6K

Anyone looked at this company I just found...Machinability Snowplows they offer blades specific to snow removal rather than dirt moving...might be the ticket.

thoughts?

Have you thought about getting an old snow plow blade set up? Probably be able to get one for way cheap...

an old snow blade would be fine...even would consider a new plow blade for that matter...the real issue is finding a mounting system...something just quickly welded together is not the answer...it could be for a small compact tractor but when you start talking about 75+ HP and 8K+ pounds of machine the forces exerted must be sufficiently delt with...you need a mounting system that is really rugged...not something build in my barn without any testing.

Honestly I am surprised...considering all the plow manufacturers out there...not one has come up with a fairly standard mount for tractors that would accomodate a fisher etc. type truck plow. Yes there are some for FEL's but those are not anywhere near as accomodating as a proper plow mount.
