Can someone assist me in getting my Del Morino adjusted for cutting height.

Per the specs it is adjustable from 1" to 3".

I want to be around 2" to 2-1/2" if possible.

I have the back roller at the lowest point, with the gearbox leveled with the top link the flails are 1” off the ground. I’m doing this on a level paved area.

If I adjust the top link out to gain height, I’ve gone up to a 2” clearance, I lose lift height and functionality of the rotation. It doesn’t work.

The owner’s manual has nothing but raise or lower the roller.

Any thoughts out there.

When adjusted as below, no lift or at least not high enough for the vertical lift function to clear the ground.

About your beautiful Italian made orchard and Vineyard Shredder;
you need to have your dealer increase the relief pressure on the
three point hitch hoist circuit of your mule if it is unable to lift the mower.

If the rear roller is at its lowest mounting point that is the highest
cutting height and you will have difficulty obtaining a good cut as
there is less of a pressure gradient to create the suction needed for
the knives/hammers to cut and lift the material.

You have 3 height settings on your flail shredder indicated by the
3 holes in the side weldments of your flail shredder.

The bolt in front of the rear roller holds the rear roller in place and
If my memory is right you just loosen it a little to allow the rear roller
to be raised and lowered to adjust the cutting height of your flail shredder

You remove both bolts on the adjustment holes and reset the bolt,
nut and washer in the desired hole and tighten them back up.

The Messicks web site has a rather long video on the Del Morino. It looks like the fellow has the unit sitting down tight on the ground. He did say that if you lift the unit with the 3-point arms - it will not cut. And he gives a demo of this.

I would get back with the dealer and ask how you get the one to three inch variable cutting height. There must be a way that the back roller can be dropped further than you are getting now.

Does it have knives or hammers? What are you attempting to cut with it? You may have to adjust your lift arms so that you can get more lift height to make what you are trying doable.

I have a 10' Maschio. I have my slides on the ends adjusted for my cut height coupled with the roller position. But mine is made for grass and brush cutting and is not a ditchbank cutter like yours. I think I cut to 1.5".

It does lift no problem. And I have the roller at the lowest point.

I'm working with the dealer and he is trying to find answers but in honesty he is new with this unit as well.

The specs were the confusing part saying 1" to 3". I'm shooting for 2" in my application of use. Native grassland and open field maintainace.

The owners manual is "limited"

You missed my point or maybe I misunderstood you. I believe you said it doesn't lift high enough to work properly when you get the height set where you want it. If that's the case, I was saying you may need to adjust the lift arms so it will lift "higher".

I may be doing things wrong on my end as well. If I have the unit on the ground and adjust the top link to raise the front end so the blades are slightly higher. They're then is not enough travel to lift the unit off the ground high enough. The lower arms are not the issue but when extending the top link it won't go up as high. I only have one hole to place the top link on the tractor not multiple or some units have.

As usual they do not understand these mowers and how they work.

You need to decide what height of the three positions you want and need to mow at.

The highest bolt hole setting of the three will give you the best closest cut.
The middle hole will make the cut one inch lower and the bottom bolt hole
the highest cut height.

If your lower links are fully retracted which they appear to be they need to be extended one or two holes
at a time along with your top link to find the right place for it to work and maintain a level flail mower to lift
the shredder to allow the rotation cylinder to rotate the mower to vertical or allow it to drop below the
horizontal plane to mow a downward sloped bank.

These boom mounted shredders are designed to work with the three point hitch fully elevated with the boom fully extended
to the right to mow hedges, vineyards berry cane hedges and mow weed trees back along a lane or road.

I have to finish my chores but I will come back to this.

I think I'm better understanding your comment on the lift arms after thinking it thru.
