Just took delivery of my b 2400 today. FEL 60mmm. and filled tires and chains. The Curtis enclosed cab with heater will be a real
nice change this winter when moving the snow around. What do you think, will a back blade and bucket cut it on a 500 ft. gravel driveway, or is a blower(big bucks) needed. Gravel makes me nervous with a blower

HI Timcom,

Congrats on the new tractor...first one? I mean REAL one? Got my first real one in July...
My neighbor uses his snow blower on gravel without problem...when we get snow that is...

I'll defer to those with experience, but I doubt that the loader is the best tool for a 500 foot driveway. Now for my 75 foot driveway...probably just fine

Enjoy your new TOOL...repeat after me...It's NOT a toy, it's NOT a toy.../w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

It depends on how much snow you get, but I would try out the back blade / loader combo for a few storms to see how you like it. I don't think 500' is unreasonable to do that way. On the other hand, if you get huge amounts of snow the cost of the blower may be justified.

How's that for sitting on the fence?/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Hey wheeldog, that sounds like a definite maybe to me. I guess I,ll have to try a few storms and see how it goes before dropping some serious coin on a blower .That would put my wife over the edge. Most years we get it real good here in the snow belt of central New York.Last year was pretty mild, year before that we got buried several times. Cant wait to try it out though, not much to do to have fun with it right now.

It's a matter of time and altitude or is it attitude? Anyway if your drive is a higher altitude that the ground around a back blade and FEL will work nicely. Inverse is the depressed driveway with 6' banking & nowhere to push the snow, you need a blower!

Alternately patience and and working with the FEL will clear it too. I use the FEL and a 6' back blade for 300' drive plus another 200 feet to the barn and it works fine until 2' snow then it's bucket time..

you are going to love that tractor(i have the same model) and i use the fel with back blade to do all my snow, of course my drive is only 80 ft., but we do get lots of snow and have not run into anything that it can't handle. i would try it out as is and see if u think u need a blower.

Tim,

I'll hold off on giving you a hard time about forgetting the attachment, even though you have a heated cab for your B2400. What do I have to complain about anyway? - I've got a hooded sweatshirt/w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif
