Deutz 4006
Have a Deutz 4006. Installed a new hydraulic pump, the old one was shot, and have not been able to get the new pump to work consistently. Have tried a number of thing that were suggested locally, but either get a cycle or two or no results. Has anyone had/solved a similar problem.

I can't tell if you said it ran any length of time, or it turned a few times and lost its prime. Is the circuit complete such as pump to valve, cylinder/motor, etc? Did you fill the pump to start with. A gear pump should self prime if not too much height difference.

It was just a few cycles. I am wondering if the oil lines have a leak in them so that the pump won't prime. I was someone had a tweak that would correct the problem. Thanks for your suggestions.

You could have lost your prime due to an air leak. Replace the suction hose or tighten it some more.
