Well, thankfully I moved a bit further south in Virginia and snow should not be a huge storm here. We did just have 8 inches but last year when I lived in Front Royal instead of the Richmond area we had 36 inches of the white stuff. Last weekend we had a huge rain and wind storm. They said it would have been feet of snow but it was 5 inches of rain and it knocked over a huge oak tree across the driveway on Friday afternoon. It was a couple hours before ten young girls came over for my granddaughters birthday. I was going out and had to stop as I could not get by so I backed up and went and got the tractor. Just a few days prior I was pushing snow with it but the 5 inches of rain and being soft started to affect the driveway and the tree needed to be moved. SO I put on the grapple and the land plane grader scraper and headed down with the chainsaw. I used the grapple to pick up the pressure enough to cut the branches and then to eventually carry them up. It put a pretty nice divot in the grass and the driveway too. It was too wet to do much then just let it be. A couple days later I hit it with the land plane and it is nice and smooth again. So, I figure it is still Feb and the snow gods will drop the white stuff on me so I have to switch everything back in the cold and freezing temps.
The tractor waiting for its next job. Took the bucket and blade off that I use for snow when the tree fell. I am betting that we do not get a big enough snow to reattach it. by tinstafl, on Flickr.
To put the size of the tree into perspective here is the one standing near it and it was a bit smaller.
