Howdy. I setup my new air compressor over the last couple weeks and then today I was going to start it up and realized I really don't know if what I did is right or not.

Specifically I'm concerned over whether I can have a "dry" line and a "wet" line like I made? I want to be able to run tools that require lubrication and stuff that requires no lubrication, possibly at the same time.

Anything else I may have done wrong? Thanks!

Looks good to me. Generally, you want the filter/dryer a fair distance from the compressor to allow for air cooling an condensation. That isn't always possible due to space and general logistics. You'll be fine running everything through the filter. I see that it appears that both outputs are regulated, that's a must. Most air tools want around 90PSI.

You could have one non filtered line for filling tires or just blasting air. It really depends on your intended use.

If you're not painting with basecoat/clearcoat, your set up should work fine.

Not an expert but I am a very heavy user of a similar compressor in my garage.

I was hoping to paint with it. Whats wrong with this setup for clearcoating?

For the dry line consider running it higher and then bringing it back down to the hose connection level.

Have a good length of drop pipe with drain valves at the bottom of both lines.

Consider a polishing filter before the hose connections on the dry line.

Also consider a flexible line on the outlet of the filter. This can be made just using 90 degree elbows and nipples [ look up chicksand ]. The rest of the piping should have some solid support.:D

Do some Googling as there will be lots of information there.

That big yellow thing is a $1500 polisher/scrubber with auto-drain that my neighbor gave me with the plasma cutter I bought (stole?) from him. I turned on the compressor today and the air coming out the dry line is amazingly dry. I held a paper towel in front of it for a couple minutes and it was completely dry afterwards. I take it that is good. :)

Does the filter have a Desiccant material inside?:)

I don't really know. There are six cartridges in there. The guy I spoke to said they will likely last me the rest of my life as that thing is designed to filter a large factory. Its rated 100scfm@150psi.

It looks like you extended the tank drian too? I have my current compressor, because the tank on the old one rusted thru. The factory drain was about impossible to get too. And when you did, it was right there where spiders ect liked to nest...

My current compressor is an upright. I removed the fatocy drain and piped one out to the side where it is easy to reach, and drain after each use.

If the filter does not have a desiccant module it may be wise to add one on the dry paint line as there will still be moisture there.:D

Yep extended the drain. The guy at Tractor Supply told me to do that when I was looking at them. Nothing has come out of it yet! Haven't run it more than an hour though.
