LS G3038H
Hi all,

Have used this site as well as others to do a good deal of research before buying an LS G3038H with FEL and BH, delivered just a few days ago. Very happy with the tractor and attachments so far, but really only a few hours of use, so we'll see how things progress.

I gave the tractor a good look upon delivery, everything was nice and shiny, but didn't notice until today the ID plate on the backhoe read model LB1100 (not LB1102 as in all the LS literature I've been able to find). In searching for info on the LB1100, it seems to have the same specs as the LB1102, but in a couple of places, it was mentioned as an earlier model that was for the J series tractors? In other literature, the entire model line was referred to as the LB1100 series of BH's, so I'm not sure what I've got here.

Anyone have any info on this issue, I just don't want to have paid for something new and gotten something a couple models behind. I will call the dealer, but hope to have more information before doing so, so I will be able to know better if I am getting accurate information.

THanks, site is great, people here seems great, a very valuable online resource!
Peter

Does your invoice detail what loader and backhoe was sold to you?
Did you request to purchase the 1102?

The dealer may have had that one in stock and assumed you new what you where getting.

The dealer is just about 2 hours away, so all of the preliminary QnA and negotiations took place on the phone. Both of the G's he had in stock had loaders and backhoes fitted to them. I originally made a deal for the tractor with FEL only, but mentioned that I would like to add a BH later, as budget allowed.

Next couple of days, he sent me pics and updates as he was doing the safety check, and filling the tires, etc. and I asked about the BH again, and he gave me a good price on it, and at the last minute, I said, what the heck, leave it on there. I ASSUMED it was the "correct" BH for the G3038, but never asked; he never said it was the LB1102, but also never said it wasn't. Of course I should have asked. In a perfect world, he also should have mentioned it too.

I looked at the invoice after noticing the plate on the tractor, and it does say LB1100 on it, but again, I didn't notice until later, I guess I was distracted by the shiny new tractor.

If it is in essence the same BH except for model #, or year of manufacture, or something insignificant, I guess I will get over it. The question is, are there improvements that are significant that I'm not getting. If this is the case, I will have to figure out what I can do about it.....

I would think the digging depth and breakout force for each should be available on the website or from the dealer. It may make a difference on resale or trade-in in the future, but I typically use things up before getting rid of them. It wouldn't make much difference to me. That new tractor shine is distracting!

From the little information that seems to be available online, and the user manual for the BH, the specs seem to be the same. I was hoping someone on here had the LB1100 and had some first hand knowledge of any other significant differences between what seems to be an older model, and the newer one (reliability issues?)

I'd like to remove the BH for storage in the garage while not in use and put some compact ballast on the 3 pt. for using the FEL. But looking at the hoses running to the BH, it looks like two female ends will be left that I can't just connect together to complete the loop. I guess I will need to source about a 24 inch hose with male fittings on both sides to accomplish this. Anyone know the fitting type I should get? Kinda new to hydraulics, thanks for the replies!

I guess I'm not understanding what you're getting at. Why do you want to connect these together? The fittings will not leak fluid. You should just put dust caps in the fittings.

Well I'll have about a 5-6 foot length of hose that runs out to where the connection for the BH is, which after disconnecting will just terminate at the coupling. I was under the impression, that in order to avoid a "deadhead" situation, you'd have to complete that loop?

Maybe George will post up. He just bought a BH. You may want to ask your dealer or post a pic.

my massey bh must be looped back or it will dead head and stall the tractor when dissconnected from the hoses
with that said not all systems work the same way
easiest way to check is to disconect the hoses and start the tractor it will only take a few minuts to see if you need to loop the lines as tit should stall if it needs looping
should be pioneer fitting on the hoses but on mine the remotes are pioneer fittings and the loader uses a slightly larger fitting

The JD backhoe plumbing kit that I see listed for my tractor has a hose as part of the kit. I gather if you purchase a backhoe you take that hose out and connect the fittings/hoses from the backhoe. If you took the hoe back off you would replace that connect hose. Have you called your dealer to ask if that cross connect hose was supposed to be in your package but they lost the hose?
