We already have had so much rain here I have ankle deep puddles in places I never had puddles before.

Thursday night our forecast called for drizzle on Saturday night and Sunday. Less than 0.25" rain. OK, great, I have been waiting for some light rain for weeks so I could put down grass seed without having it washed/floated away. Spent Friday afternoon and Saturday morning aerating, putting down seed, etc. Well, what came through Saturday night through Sunday night was instead heavy rain intermingled with downpours. I just took a look this morning and all my seed is gone, probably all washed to the low end of my field. This would be the second year in a row I was not able to get a winter grass established. And that means it will be muddy until May when the weeds come back to life.

I am thankful we haven't had direct hit hurricanes here in VA. With the ground as saturated as it is, it would be a repeat of Isabel. Trees were toppling left and right during that storm. The ground was so saturated the roots had nothing to hang on to. I have never seen so many big old trees uprooted like that.

Central Texas looking at 3 days of nonstop rain. Nearly 4.5 inches expected. Daytime high about 55 F.

Looks like the bulk of our rain is actually going to be sleet. Glad I got a rick of seasoned wood last Spring.

Anything which falls here likely will be white and cold... 'tis the season after all.

We had about 4" "white and cold" about a week ago. A little early for me.
That having been said, the wet October we've had this year is quite welcome after a very dry summer. Checked my well a couple days ago, and it's as full as it gets, quite a change from a month ago.

We sure could use some rain up here in the northeast...7" below normal.

Was watching the weather last night, and it looks like you might get your wish end of the week. A bit iffy as to whether or not we'll get much this far north but where you are looked to be well within the storm.
Not sure where we stand statistically, but after the rain we've had over the past 3 weeks or so, the ground is quite saturated.

I think if I lived anywhere near the gulf coast, I'd be seriously looking to move north. Snow storms are a lot less likely to kill you than a hurricane is. Added to that, I can all ways put on a few more clothes to stay warm, but down south you can't take off enough clothes to stay cool with out getting arrested when in public.
