Just finished the 50 hr. service to my 3820 and wasn't too bad at all. Not sure what my dealer would have charged,
but hauling the tractor 30 miles and getting a bill for this service didn't make sense. I would encourage anyone with
a bit of time (took me just under 3 hours with cleanup) and a few tools to do this on their own. I saved the hydro fluid
from the tractor by buying this plastic tub from Walmart that was real handy for draining out the axle fluid as well.
Its just long enough to drain a side plug and center drain at the same time. The tub is a 28 qt. and also used this on the tranny
fluid. (pic below) I did have to stop the flow half way though and empty. Trans screen was washed in diesel fuel using the same tub....not too much metal in it to my surprize. With only 50 hrs on the hydro fluid, I'm saving it for my dozer.
Engine was a piece of cake, not really any different than my Dodge trucks with cummins, just smaller. I have to say, I hate the side clips holding the engine covers!
What a pain in the &*#$@^%#. I really like the tractor, but I'm going to find something else to work on those. And while I'm complaining,
what is up with checking the engine oil threw that little window??Either have to take that painful side cover off, or fish the dipstick up the side
just to check the oil. Seem they should have a flexible stick or something making it easier to check engine oil.
One last thing, not sure what others are using, but Rotella 15-40 went into the engine, and Rotella Universal Tractor Fluid in the tranny and axle.
