Thanks everyone. SUV's, tool boxes, doors, etc., all good. It's just that it was out in my field, so I thought my tractor. I've been out there with my zero turn mower, the control arm dampers are still on it. This cylinder is pressurized, it always extends. The compression stroke isn't damped much, but the extension is damped for sure.
Maybe I'll figure it out someday, maybe not.

I've got a little container on the workbench with many nuts, bolts, and washers that I find in the gravel drive. Never found a home for one, but I'll keep looking.
