I wonder who is making Diehard Batteries now. Johnson Control was but I am sure someone said Sears had moved the contract. Then again I have heard there are only a few Battery manufactures left and they are making the majority of batteries sold under the various names in the US.

Yeah the guy that wouldn't replace the second battery that died on me said..they now have a new supplier..I thought they should replace the second one because they were 3-year free replacement...since he said no..for that reason I went with interstate.

Never had a Diehard. But the guy at Napa told me that the Napa Legend is the only battery (including Interstate I assume) that is made in the USA. Of course he's a salesman so perhaps he has a number of great lines like that. Anyway, I bought 2 of them this fall. One to replace another 75 month Legend that went 7 years and the other to replace something else. Both of those in cars, maybe not as good in tractors?

One reason I bought the interstate is...about 10 years ago when I worked for a road striping company here in ohio..we had arrow boards(each had 15- 4
" light bulbs in them) on all our trucks..one driver forgot to shut the arrow board off when he left the truck at the shop...when I went to work the next morning (it was dark) I saw the arrow board facing down to the cab..was flashing..so I pulled up to the front of the truck to give it a jump...but just for the heck of it I tried to start in before(thinking in my mind..there is no way it's gonna start..after 8 hrs on all night) and it turned over and started...Now that's a good battery.

I put a DieHard in my old SAAB 99. It died after a few years, so I took it back to Sears. They gave me a brand new DieHard. It never took a charge. This led me to spend a really unpleasant January day, out on the street, in the South End of Bridgeport, testing ground connections, fuses, fusible links, alternator, and voltage regulator before concluding the battery was junk. Got a refund (partial - and had to raise a ruckus for it) and put that money toward an Interstate that was still going strong when I sold the car, 5 or 6 years later. So I am biased. Don't listen to me.

There is no doubt..Interstate is far better than diehard...They use to be great batteries 10- 20 years ago..only reason I bought it was..i was at sears buying a socket set,at the time... I still (at that time) believed them to be good..I'm just gonna stick with interstate in everything...except my Harley. It's a shame to see these once great companys going to _ _ it.. I wont go back.

Sears uses different manufacturers for their batteries, some are better than others. I have had very good luck with the Die Hard Platinum batteries which are made by Odyssey with the gray case. I don't buy the other batteries Sears sells as they are no better than a Walmart battery which costs a lot less.

I have tried a lot of brands including the Optima and find that the brand Walmart sells (Duralast) is a good as any other and the warranty is usually a no questions asked if the battery goes bad.
