Diesel Fuel In Crank Case

I have a Massey 180 with Perkins 4 in it. I have replaced the lift pump. When removed i could see nothing wrong in the old one. After three hrs of running, the crankcase is full of diesel. One strange thing thing about its behavior is after it is used for an hour, It,s first compression stroke when restarting, sounds like there is a hydraulic lock and will not turn over properly. Injector or Injector pump? The diesel shop that i talked to said that the IP i have is the type that you must dismantle the pump to remove the shaft to replace the seal.
I'm trying not to make a costly mistake. The IP seal work about 450.00
