Diesel Tank Sealer

Any body know of a tank sealer for diesel? Have a 585 Case w/ saddle bag tanks and tank fitting keeps clogging up. Found a couple for gas but not sure about diesel. Any help would be appreciated.

A quick Google search for "diesel tank sealant" turns up page upon page of results. I've been around when a friend of mine coated Harley gas tanks but never looked to see if what he used would work for diesel as well.

DT86 Sir, thanks for the response. I did just that but from what I've read w/ the two major brands (P__15 and R__kote) there is extensive prep required one if diesel it recommends you to cut the tank in half and sandblast, the other takes several steps to etch the inside, all seems vary difficult w/ saddle bag type tanks it would be impossible. Was just want to see if other had ideas that might work. If others have a suggestion I would appreciate your response. Thanks, Again Ray

It may not need relined at all, might just be dirt and algae clogging you up. Try this, run the tanks nearly empty or better yet drain them. Get about 3-4' of rubber hose or even water hose, but the bigger the better. Duct tape that to the end of a shop vac. Go fishing through the filler neck. You won't believe the crud that comes out.

I believe it's rust, I removed the fitting from the supply line at the bottom of the tank and got what looked like flakes of metal. The tank is a bad design, it's shapped like an inside down U with only one top opening. The hose is a good idea, I may can get it to the hose over to the other side. Thanks for the suggestion.

On my 385 there is an opening where the guage sending unit goes in the top of the side opposite the fill hole. I used it a long time ago to clean the bottom of my tank.

I removed mine today, had to unbolt ROP bar to pull unit out but not to bad. Ran for about 3-4 hours no problems. Hope I don,t have to remove and coat tank.
