The rainy season is coming and I have been increasingly curious about what would be required for me to swap wheels and tires for something with more traction. I have the big and wide R4s and frankly they just don't cut it with my steep hillsides.
It's great that they don't tear up the ground and all, but that doesn't help me much if I really need to get into a pasture and dig a hole. The R4s become mud-slicked in a few seconds on some of the heavy-clay moderate slopes near the barn. A friend with a Jeep laughed hysterically as he quickly demonstrated how easily he could drive up the same slope.
I would consider getting chains too, but I like the idea of a different set of wheels/tires better. I'd like to increase the offset so they stick out farther too if that is possible. I haven't rolled my tractor yet, but making any turns on the hillsides it is a white-knuckled and gluteous maximus clenching experience.
Thoughts, ideas, suggestions?
