I have been looking for a tractor with a backhoe for some time. I need something 30-40 hp. I have found a L3430. fel and backhoe, hydostatc drive and a L35, fel and backhoe, they are both around the same price and hours are very close also, under 600 hours, I would like to know what everyone thinks is the better tractor, I know one is hydro and the other gear. That doesnt matter to me. Thanks for the inputs

C'mon -
Tells us - what do you plan to do with it?
Plowing fields all day and occasional BH use?
Digging ditches and never needing a 3pt?

I have 15 acres in Fulton county PA. I want to redo the drive way, some drainage digging, putting in bigger drain pipes, some grading of a cleared spot, and getting a grapple, there is lots of crap that needs to be cleaned up. The digging is going to be the hard part, the ground is mostly slate. And yrs I will eventually want to use the 3 pt for a brush hog and/or finish mower.

If your jobs have a lot of backhoe and loader work the L35 will hold up better. It's designed to be a heavy duty little digging machine with much stronger hydraulic system, the flow (I think) is over 17gpm... The backhoe does come off easily for 3pt/pto work.

The L3430 is a tractor with a loader and a backhoe added.. not in the same league..hydraulic output at the valve 8.3gpm. however if you need an all purpose machine to do lots of 3pt and pto work with higher ground clearance, The L3430 will be more versatile for any work that doesn't require a loader or backhoe.

I have a L35, wanted an industrial strength small TLB.. working out good for me. I use the backhoe and/or the loader everytime I start it up...

What he said. And;
The 3430 loader is removable, L35 loader is not. The 3430 3pt is more refined, i.e. smoother up and down, L35 3pt is acceptable. 3430 has bigger tires, makes it a little bulkier.

If you want to do serious trenching, go with the L35. Fill the rear tires with rim-guard. When then hoe is off, using the loader can become perilous. Removing the L35 hoe is very easy.

I will probably never remove the FEL. That will be something I can see using alot. I know that the L35 is heavier. Can the PTO be disengaged on the L35? Can it be taken out of 4X4?

yes the pto is live on the l35 and you can take it in and out of 4wd. The 3pt controls on the l35 are about the same as all kubota with postion control. You will have a hard time tearing up the l35 but the hoe on the l3430 you will always wonder if you should have got the l35.

I would go with the L35 as well. I have never heard anyone say my tractor has to much power.

I think that I might just go for the L35. Do to the amount of rock that is on the property. I was up there looking at what I needed to do this past weekend and noticed that the one bank was nothing but slate. I wonder if I dig it if I could sale some of that slate. That would be nice. help pay for the tractor.

The L35 sounds like the right model for you currently. It will handle the BH work much better and is built like a tank. A lot of digging with stones may cause more wear on the 3430.
