Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Difference between Meteor v landpride v Buhler/Farm King 3pt snow blowers

I'm about to buy a 75" or 84" (my Kioti has a width of 66 inches) rear snow blower and I'm trying to decide between the above blowers. Each has 4 paddles, good size auger depth and diameter. I anticipate the Landpride is going to be slightly more expensive than the other two models and just want to make sure the unit I buy works and works well for a long time perhaps even after I retire my Kioti for another tractor down the road.

I'm still very much a nubie in owning and operating my tractor so I appreciate any thoughts, advice and information people can provide.

I'd imagine it would be hard to go wrong with any of the above choices, as none of them are cheap, Chinese junk. Both Farm King and MK Martin are made in Canada, where they know a thing or two about winter.:cold: Land Pride has a very good reputation for quality products as well, as they're made in the good ol' US of A.:thumbsup: One thing to look for is adjustable/replaceable skids. I Love my Buhler/Farm King and imagine it will outlast me.

I really don't have an opnion on the meteor or landpride.

I run a 84" buhler farm king last winter with zero issues, it is a high quality unit and I would not hesitate to buy another one just like it.

Have you considered Pronovost probably the best blowers out there?Machineries Pronovost inc.

Personally, I have a Kubota which is a rebranded RAD RadTechnologies > Snow Blowers. Its OK, and about the same as everyone elses entry level machines, but not as nice as Pronovost's mid and upper level units.

Anybody have any opinions on the Landpride 3pt snowblowers? I'm looking for a 3pt blower to go on the back of my Kubota B3200 . I stopped at my dealer today - hoping to get some pricing on the Kubota 64" that's recommended for that tractor - and he was pushing the Landpride stuff. I like Landpride - I have one of their mowers, but I haven't heard much about their snowblowers.

The important thing to look at on the blower is the clearance between the tips of the blower vanes and the housing. The smaller the better, I used to have a 60" AgroTrend which was great. I think the clearance on that was less than 1/8". I replace it with a used 78" Lucknow, what a heavy built beast! Those Canadians sure can build blowers! In my area the Meteor and AgroTrend are the big sellers and I have never heard any problems with either.

I had a Loftness 54" blower that I bought used and tried out on the B3200 last year. What I found was that it didn't throw the snow - at all. I could get about 15-20 feet out of it tops - if I jammed it into a snowbank at full throttle. When I started trying to figure out why I found a couple of things. First the clearance around the blower vanes and the housing was probably a half inch or so - and it wasn't consistent. It was if the blower housing was actually oblong shaped. Secondly - it seemed the blower must have been geared for a higher RPM PTO than the 540 on the B3200. When my father and I compared the rotations per against the revs of the PTO - we could the Loftness was going to be going like 33 rpm or something like - vs his Honda push blower that was doing like 47. The Loftness was significantly slower. I ended up selling the thing after thinking thru what it would cost to fix it and decided to just look into a new one when the time came.

Generally speaking, all the rear mount snowblowers spin at 540 rpms since there is not a ratio change in the gearbox. Because of this the models of snowblowers with a larger fan are going to throw the snow the furthest (assuming all other things being equal). There is a lot a talk, rightly so, about the clearance between the fan tips and the housing, but not that much chit chat about tip speed. An example of this is that the fan on my front mount snowblower on my garden tractor spins at a little over 900 rpms but throws snow no further than the snowblower on my tractor that spins 540. I am guessing that my walk behind snowblower, with its small fan, has to spin over 1000 rpms to throw snow an equal distance as the other two blowers.
