Difference between these valves?

hill - I figured that most backhoes would have their own hydraulic pump driven by the PTO. Is this not the case on your B7800?

Mike is correct (as usual ) and the Kubota BH75 backhoe that I have is the model against which Woods has had to try to compete ). My hoe is powered up from the tractor hydraulics, directly out of the PB outlet on the loader valve, near as I've been able to tell so far. When removing the hoe I disconnect the hydraulic lines and reconnect them together with supplied QD's that are impossible to mix up. That maintains the tractor's circuit and coincidentally provides a convenient place to obtain hydraulic power to operate new functions such as T&T, which is my plan. With backhoe installed T&T is unusable, and vise-versa.

What are the specs I need to know on a valve when considering a purchase?

I know this is a broad question, I am planning on putting a thumb on my backhoe ,which is attached to a B2630 Kubota my backhoe is a Bh75.

The flow on the tractor is 5.6 gal /min and max pressure is 2204-2349 psi.

For a thumb on a backhoe you could add a completely separate valve, but I believe the most effective would be like RonMar suggested on another thread, either add a spool to the existing stack or put in a diverter valve, so that say an outrigger control would actuate the thumb too. The problem is that if you put another valve in the system to control a thumb you would not be able to use it at the same time as your bucket curl or dipper crowd. If you put the valve before your existing BH valve, then it would have priority and you could not operate the BH controls when you activated the thumb. If it were after the BH valve then there would be no pressure for the thumb when you did anything with the BH.
