Difference between TL and TS series

Can someone explain the difference between the TL and TS series tractors? Would one make a better loader tractor than the other? I see joy sticks in the TS110's, was this joy stick just for controlling one of the rear outlets or was it prep'd for a loader?

The TS series is heavier, has stronger components and will have a more durable drivetrain. Joystick controls generally operate a mid mount valve suitable for loader applications.

As Rick B. said, the TS is heavier than the TL. The TS is the Ford chassis, common to the 5, 6 and 7000 tractors. Very durable.
The TL is the Fiat chassis preceded by the 35 series (5635, 6635 and 7635) and the prior Fiat 30 series (5530, 6530 and 7530). A good product, just lighter design and components.

All TS ( no 'A') were nothing more then 40 series tractors with new cabs, sheet metal, and a very few improvements.

So if a guy wanted a good used tractor for a reasonable cost a unit such as a 7740SLE would be a good choice? This tractor would make a good loader tractor?

Just personal opinion, mind you, but the SLE model would be my last choice in 40 series. The electronics can be more than just a bit frustrating when things go haywire. Unless you or someone you know is well versed in the system and good with electrical circuits, I would stick with the gear drive versions.

That would be an SL Model? Were the early model front axles, the Carraro's, good strong axles or should you try to find a later 95 and later model with a New Holland axle? My main use is going to be loader and I am very concerned about strength. If there is another tractor model that would better suit please comment. I just can't afford late model units. I want to stay around 90 or so pto hp.

Can't say I disagree with that.
A 7710 II with synchronized (16x8) transmission would even get you away from the stupid hydraulic controlled dry clutch found on the 40 series SL's.

The SL without the Dual Power, simple gear version as Harry said, is a pretty good tractor. The SL with Dual Power is basically a stripped SLE transmission with the same electrical headaches.
The Carraro or the Fiat/NH 4WD axles are essentially the same.
The 7710 was definitely a good basic tractor.
