Different discounts on different models of JD\'s?
Howdy,
I've been shopping for a lawn/compact tractor for a month or so now, and have been getting quotes from my local JD dealer.
On the X-series, he discounts the MSRP about 14%,
on the 2210 tractor, he discounts around 13%,
and on the 4000/ten series, he discounts almost 18%.
Is this normal?
These discounts also apply to FEL's & MMM's, but not attachments such as Rear Grading Blades, etc. which are quoted at full price.
Is this normal?
All of these discounts subtract various amounts of money in order to arrive at a "round" or "catchy" number;
(example; FEL is discounted $320.41 in order to arrive at $2000 even, and tractor package deals all end up being $1X,900 dollars)
Is this normal?
On the X-models he doesn't list any "Freight" or "Set-Up" charges, while on all of the CUT's these add up to a few hundred dollars extra.
He also lists $220-290 worth of "Attaching Parts" for the MMM's on the CUT's even though the exact same mower deck is quoted for both the X-models and the 2210, for example?
I've been known to negotiate pretty aggressively when purchasing cars & trucks. Always considered the whole buying process a sort of tug-of-war contest. Get up & walk out, change models in the middle of the deal, and spring trade-ins, etc. on the salesman at the last minute. But, this is my first tractor deal, and I don't know what "farmer etiquette" is expected?
Thanx, Dave.
