I have a 4720 w/ R4's, 550 hours and will need to replace the front tires in about 100 hours. I figure if I need fronts I will just try to get bigger rears at the same time. I need the ply rating of a R4 (8-10 ply) but the traction of a R1. Has anyone changed tires sizes to something other then what came from the factory?
I looked at Michelin 11x16 R1W/R4 for the front and 19.5x 24 R4's for the rear. Firestone suggested 250/85D16.5 - R1's for the front and 16.9 x28 for the rear. I know with some of these tires I will need new rims.
Deere will only tell me the over speed ratio is 1.71 but will not suggest tires sizes.

Any help is appreciated.

You need to go by either rolling or loaded circumference. It has to do with your gear ratio, tire size and MFWD. I believe that the Goodyear Titan web page has a chart. I know I went through this when I bought my JD 770.......it had R1s and I wanted R4s........Deere was no help and I gave myself a real headache trying to figure it out. I also believe that if you search these to topics on this page or others you might find past threads.

Good luck.
