I am looking at my PT and about to get some chains for it, and I wanted to ask of the group there results on different types of chain designs, and maybe what assumptions i have that are wrong.
For me personally I have very hilly land that does not see much snow or ice, but more sticky slick mud and soft ground.
I sense there are 5 distinct kinds of chains...
4 Link - Less expensive not great for tractors
2 Link - good for tractors
Diamond Pattern provide more traction across tractor tires than 2 link
Logging Chain best for soft ground and mud
V Chain. great addition to 4 and 2 link but eats asphalt
So outside of my comments, what else can people chime in with experience wise? Does the logging chain versions really release mud much better? And really increase the traction of 2 link? Do you notice a difference between 2 Link and Diamond Pattern?
Any thoughts appreciated before I spend 300 to 500 on this project.
