Newbie here, and I recently bought a Ford 5000 and I would like to know how to check the differential fluid level, and if it is a common sump with the 3 pt hitch hydraulics. I have downloaded the maint. manual, and an owners manual but they don't show the fill and check locations.
What type of fluid should I use?

Thanks,
Jim

use m2c134d or equvalent oil. keep in mind this machine is wet brakes.

very late 75 models and I think, models with DP will be all common sump front to rear., like a 5600. other than that, seperste sump with diffy and hyds common.

aft of the seat is a big bung plug to add oil.. and if standing behind the tractor, facing the back of it, on the left side axle trumpet will be a big pipe plug.. that is the level check.... add oil till it starts dribbling out there..

a 5000 is a fine machine... you can date it from the numbers stamped on the bellhousing aft of the starter..
