If your future plans include repaving you might simply pave over the old asphalt.
Yeah, I am hesitant to do too much with the FEL besides scoop up the broken pieces. I also have a neighbor with a little skid steer I could probably borrow if I wanted.Go easy - FELs aren't generally made to do this type of work. People been talking about bending the cross bars and tweaking the SSQA so be careful. I'd use the backhoe and park the dumpster close to the work area as possible. Can move and dump pieces with you FEL with forks.
