We have DirecTV in our home and I would like to get service in my shop that is approximately 80 feet from the house. What are my options (if any) without installing a dish on my shop or running a cable from the house to the shop? Thanks for the info..

Your only option in that case is an antenna! If you want to watch different channels you will have to purchase another receiver and run a cable to your shop(from the dish)

do you want a separate receiver in the shop or just watch what is on in the house? If the former you will need a Sat. grade coax line from a new or existing dish...if the latter just run a coax cable from the house...

If you plan on using an independent receiver in the shop I would buy a cheap dish off e-bay and then you would not need to run any lengthy lines...for standard definition it costs $5-$6 a month for the receiver $10-$12 for high def....but you will need a HD dish (also cheap on e-bay)...unless you connect a telephone line to a Sat. receiver (not required)...the satellite or the company has no idea where a registered receiver is getting the signal from (any DTV dish will work if compatible with the receiver...if you need a receiver DTV will send you one for just the postage (about $20)...it comes with an access card and you just call them up when you are ready to activate the receiver...

Go look at a Terk Leap Frog Wireless 2.4 GHz A/V Distribution System. Not a perfect solution, and may not be applicable for you, but it's an option if conditions are right.
IIRC, the one I used a while back even had a little IR mouse so you could use the remote to control the signal source.
Good luck!

Do you have a wireless computer in your shop? if so! does it recieve a good signal from the router? a while back Direct TV started up a program called (Direct tv Everywhere ), I think if you are a current subscriber you are able to get Direct on your mobile devices, laptop, tablet, smart phone, etc, etc,, for no extra charge,-> ((( I think! ))) If you have an older PC with a decent video card and memory speed you can instal a wireless USB stick and install the Direct TV everywhere program, and show it on any Monitor, Most LCD or LED Tv's have VGA inputs, or just an old CRT will do, I would first test the signal strength from the router to your shop,
Viewing choppy streamline video can become frustrating:cool:

Ask directv about the genie. I though that it would let you do what you want it to do.

Love to hear more about this, i guess you have to be a current subscriber to make this work, like i cant just quit dish right now and then get my tv for $5/month?

Yes you have to be a subscriber...the prices I mentioned are just the monthly receiver charges...in addition to the programming package...

BUT...(trying to phrase this carefully) any actively registered receiver will work using any compatible dish...i.e., I can take my guest room receiver anywhere and connect it to a dish and watch TV...next door, down the street, across town etc...
unless you hook a telephone line to the receiver...they (DTV) has no way of knowing where a receiver is...

Standard 18" round dishes can be had on e-bay really cheap...receivers can also be had there but you have to be careful to make sure it is unlocked or not one someone is selling but should have been returned to DTV....I have bought several standard def receivers from e-bay and all I do is call them (DTV) and they send me an access card (comes in one day) but like I said it makes more sense to just have DTV send you one for the shipping cost...
