Hi Folks and Happy New Year...

With the new year underway and a slew of resolutions including preparing several wildlife food plots, along with some sweet corn and of course an nice big garden for the wife, I am in search of a plow, disk, corn planter and seed/fertilizer spreader for the bx2350.

After searching the forums and looking a Plow, a 4' disk, a model 71 corn planter and a 3ph PTO driven spreader, I would like to get some feed back on how well these implements perform on a bx series. I hope someone may be able to give me first hand opinions based on their experience(s).

Also, is it possible to pull a 2 bottom plow with a 2350? Is it possible to use a 2 row corn planter with a 2350?

Kind regards,
Stonycreek

Traction and ground clearance were an issue when I had a BX2350 with turf tires and a 12 inch single turning plow. The front axle wanted to bottom out with front tire running in the prevoius run. I was constantly raising the lift a bit for less bit due to the traction issue. HTH

Thanks Steve.

I never considered the ground clearance issue of the furrow and those itty-bitty front tire on the 2350.

Was you able to get a full 6"+ cut depth with your 12" moldboard plow?

Maybe I need to consider a 8' or 10" plow with less depth...

I was able to get 6 inches, but consistancy was difficult with the turf tires. I also had a tendacy to raise the plow too much with the 1/4 inching lift. I originally purchased the 2350 for mowing and light landscaping work so I specifically ordered it with turfs installed. After a short period of time, my wife and I decided to start raising a garden. I use a single 12" plow, but I have filled ag tires and I get along just fine, does work good with a depth wheel. I have a disc, but I like the 4' tiller better to finish it with.

Milkman that's a nice looking plow, What kind is it? Is a an old one painted or can I get one like that today. I know the plows at tractor supply aren't like that.
I was thinking of getting a plow instead of a tiller. We just have a small 30x50
garden.

I have a BX2350 and use a 54" disc with it. It handles the disc fine, but if you don't have a fel, you will need to add some weight to the front. I think soil type will determine how much plow you can pull. I have some sandy/clay and it does very well with the disc in it. I also have some rich loam and the 54" disc is about all the 2350 wants in that soil if I plow really deep.

Waxman, it's from an Allis Chalmers B and I cut the beam and added the TPH, I'll find a link to some other thread and post it here so Stonycreek can see it too if he's interested.

Here's the first thread if it will still work.

Nice job Milkman, You did and excellent job. You really have a nice classic plow there, I new it was too good to be something you can buy today. Looks like it works well too!

I have since the earlier thread put a depth wheel on the plow and it is easier to regulate the depth since I don't have position control. When I plow the garden this spring, I'll try to get some video and post on youtube and link it here.
