I have since learned the 78 446 brake is really only to be used for parking and my best option for slowing is a holding valve but i am considering welding a shaft on the outside of the drum an installing a floating rotor the same as older snow machines there is tons of room for the caliper and the pedal would mount easily on the right side running board. My question is has anybody done this that can forsee any problems i am not seeing or do they already make a kit for this? These tractors really do need a true brake I have owned it for 25 years and have almost said Hi to my maker a few times when you slip out of ****** you are just there for the ride.Cheers:D

You are correct in that it is only for parking, and then dont expect too much. It will hold best in forward, if you are pointed up a hill forget about it. People have added disc brakes before, so yea it can be done. The holding valve will definetly help with flying down the hills, i finally put one on mine.
