Hello,

One question, Is there a way to be able to run the PTO without sitting on the seat?

I have a logging winch that I would like to operate while standing beside the winch, but Kubota wants my butt planted on the seat. When I forget that the PTO is running and I get off the seat to hitch the logs to the logging winch, the tractor cuts off. Can I disable this somehow? The manual for my logging winch says that it is not recommended to sit on the operator seat while winching, it says to stand off to the side

Thanks for any advice

I cannot say on your tractor, but on the Kubota L3400, you can. It is a little tricky. you must get up from the seat with PTO engaged, then quickly pull up the seat toward you as you are getting off. In other words, do not let the seat just sit there pull it up and lean it against the steering wheel. Check your safety switch and if it has 3 wires, it is likely yours may work that way also.

Not sure what tractor you have, but some allow you to tip the seat forward to use the PTO while you're on the ground.

I don't know about the L series, but on my B3200 I have about a second to flip the seat up once I leave the seat, then it keeps running. Then I can operate PTO attachments - a woodchipper in my case from the ground.

It should be in your manual, but I would suspect that flipping the seat up would work.

Good luck!

I believe my owners manual says when you start the PTO get off and raise the seat with in a few seconds and it should work ok.

I have a Kubota L4400 and this is what my manual states: 1- Apply the parking brake and chock the tires 2- Make sure that the shift levers are at neutral and start the engine 3- Tilt the operator's seat forward 4- Set the PTO clutch control lever to engage "ON" 5- Set the engine speed to provide recommended rear PTO speed.

If all the above doesn't work, simply remove the spring (one bolt in the center) that keeps the seat from pressing on the OP switch.

same as everyone else has said. i run one off my b7800 and i just get up and pull the seat up behind me and when i get back on i push down on the seat with my right hand until i am back sitted down. most of the time though i get off without the pto on and raise the seat anyway. after i pulled my cable/chockers to logs, i come back and with the seat already up, i use my left hand to push the clutch down and put the pto in gear. i know that is not recommended, but i would hate to see what would happen if that clutch/enguage messed up on that winch while it is running and you have that cable in your hand and i am not getting on/off the tractor that much. as fast as they pull probably get into serious trouble. my tractor is a hydrostat so a little safer to do it my way. i do it a lot as i do over 200 face cord of firewood a year. i have run the idea through my head of just disconnecting the wires on the seat, but haven't yet.
