I have an Iseki TS1610F , it handles all my 4' "stuff" just fine.I am considering adding a disk, Would it be too much to ask it to pull a 5' or 6' disk?

I don't know much about your tractor David, but I pulled a 6 1/2 foot disk with my JD790. It's 30 hp 4wd with ag tires. My soil is sandy and it worked just fine though the 4wd was a must. Hope this helps /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I have a 4.5' 3pt disk that I pull around with a Kubota L185 (~15hp) 2wd with turf tires. No problems pulling it except when the soil is really wet, then you get to dig it and the tractor out with a shovel/w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif. I put several cement blocks on the disk to help it penetrate into the ground.

Depending on your soil you could go as far as a 6' unit. I would stay with an angle frame model as opposed to the Box frame units. You can always add weight if you need it. One of the advantages to those little Isekis is their small size. You may want to stay with a smaller implement to preserve your manueverability. Check out Monroe Tuffline or King Kutter. They have a wide selection of models and styles.

I use an old ( and I mean old ) 6' dual ganged box construction disc. I add about 100-150# of weight to it. It feels like a big pull on my NH 1920.. ( 33HP ) 3300LBs of tractor and approx 450lbs of disc.

And 4wd is great when turning.. or trying to turn....

david, the most importaint thing would be is have your disk as wide or 1' wider than your rear wheels.I use my 3000 to pull an old very heavy 4 angled ganged disk..3rd gear low range..1/4 throttle..no problem ...Sid

Hi all...

Can you clarify what you mean by a 6' disk? Is this the length of the unit? I'm assuming the width is about the same as your tractor or a bit wider.

Does a "heavy 4 angled ganged disk" mean that it has 4 rows of disks?

As you can tell I don't know much about these other than seeing them and knowing what thier used for. Would a 6' unit have 4 rows of disks or 5? And how many disks in each row?

What would be a good unit for a Kubota Grand L3130 to disk an acre or so.

Thanks
Chris

Chris, the 6' dimension is the width of the disc. Angle or box often refers to the construction (either angle iron frame or box frame with box being heavier duty). Almost all discs for our size tractors will have two rows of discs but each row is two gangs (side-by-side) for four gangs total. Each gang may have from 5-7 disc blades.
