When I tighten up these chinese spindles they don't turn. Do they usually have a castle nuts or something? I'm thinking of drilling the nuts and putting pins thru them.

Score is now Jake 0, Spindles 3 or something. I made spacers for the bearing to shank because the washers that came with were binding on the grease seals. Now they turn, but no way do they spin.. I'm thinking that under the bolt/axle head, on the other end of the bearing, the same thing is going on.
Aren't these things supposed to spin freely, or am I being too critical here? I know the coulter wheel on my IH one bottom plow would spin for a good while if I gave it a turn..

Do you have enough room on the threads to come in behind the first nut with another jam nut? Ken Sweet

No, There's only about an eighth inch left. I think maybe the seals aren't pressed in all the way, or just bad design.

Sounds like drill through the nut or go with a castle nut. Ken Sweet

I'm wondering if it's gonna eat up the seals the first time I use it. Seems to me it should spin easy since it's new. It does if it's left loose. I'll have to take it up with the seller I guess.

Jake, I would be very tempted to strip those spindles down totally and examine them with a critical eye, just to see what the score is with them. It certainly shouldn't hurt and you might be able to figure out a quick and easy improvement to them. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, eh? :)
