I buy and sell a lot of Ditch Witches. This is a common problem on 2 Ditch Witch 3700DDs that I have. I've experienced the problem on other Deutz powered DW trenchers.
When I shift the hand throttle to fast, the motor may not respond for more than a minute. This is a rod linkage, so it's not a cable problem [see pic]. Strangely, at times, I can operate the lever that raises the trencher boom and the change in load on the engine will get the throttle to begin operating correctly.
