Tractor
NorTrack 45XT with 195 loader
I have a small home made box blade that I made for my old tractor it was a 28hp I sold it and now have a 48hp the box blade isn't wide enough for the new tractor so I am going to make a new one I want it 8' wide so I can tip it and use for the drainage along my drive. I like using a box scraper for snow more then the bucket I don't want to waste any metal or put wasted strain on the lift. I never used one of the snow box scrapers made for the front of a bobcat only saw them on the web but they are larger sided then a dirt box. my box will be for dirt and snow The box I have now will put snow over the top before it goes over the sides so do I want 28" wide by 24" high sides? or do I go with 17"Hx26"W because at 8' long its going to have a hard time with dirt.

You don't state what your tractor is nor where you are. There are too many variables as a result. Do you get wet snow? How much does your tractor weigh? Is it 4wd? You willing to put chains on?
It seems to me that you would want to measure volume of your idea with the weight of your heaviest snow fall if you want to have all around equipment usage. Here's a vid of a 12,000 lb, 115 hp tractor with an 8' wide box blade for snow removal. Listen to what he states in the video to get a better idea of what you're trying to do.

I think you're trying to do too many things with this as you have it planned currently.
In your shoes, I'd build a 6' scraper with design that I could put additional plate on for snow to increase its volume for lighter material.
For drainage cutting, I'd probably get an adjustable scraper blade.

my driveway is made from scrap flag stone and with the bucket on the front I have to tip it up so it don't hang up on driveway my box scraper will take up all the snow does a way better job but its only 5' long not even as wide as the tractor tires but now what I do is take up most of the snow with the 6' loader bucket on the front and then my little box scraper to remove the rest as long as I get the box at the right angle it will remove the snow right to the stone without ripping up the driveway or tractor

My opinion = Go for it....
If it doesn't work like you want.... Back to the drawing board and modify, or build something different...

I have an old 6' rear blade that was 9/10 wore out when we got it.. With some TLC it is now only about 7/8 wore out, but does everything we have attempted with it.. Did I mention it was incredibly cheap to begin with ??

Ok. Your snow falls can run the gambit of wet to dry. Your tractor looks like a nice unit and do I see wheel weights on your rears?
At any rate, I still like my idea of building a 6' box blade and designing it so you can add additional metal for snow drops to increase its capacity.

The guy in the video I attached stated that if he didn't have chains, he couldn't man handle that 8' box he has on and this was with a 12,000lb tractor.
If you're clever enough to fabricate a box blade, you should be clever enough to allow for it to be expanded for snow work.
An 8' box blade I feel is going to be tough to handle as an all arounder. It'll do an 8" deep dry snow with no problem. Make that 8" of wet stuff and it's a whole nuther ball game. Add dirt to the equation and I don't think you're gonna be pleased.

I also bet you can make a 2' extension to bolt up to one side if you think it can handle ditching.
