DIY Land Survey

Lucked out and weaseled in enough surveying time this weekend to resolve my boundary to plan the re-fencing of my back property line.
Attached is a sketch of my survey.
I know all the engineers know all about surveying so it's boring to them.
I have to admit that buying a ~20 year old instrument and having to reduce all the slope distances to horizontal and vertical is a bit of a pain but, for the money I spent and having the capability to be efficient with it, it sure made my life easy and should preclude any reasonable challenge to my "new" fence.
Cheers!

I have a GTS-2B, but it did not come with a users or owners manual. Would it be possible to get a copy of yours?

I reallize this is an old thread, but for some reason when I first got to this forum I did not find it when I searched on mapping and GIS.

That being said I feel the need to shout out a warning:
if you don't have one GET A LEGAL SURVEY and GET IT RECORDED.
It's relatively expensive compared to nothing. But if you can prove a recent legal recorded survey you might have a standing when Weyerhauser clearcuts your land and says "whoops".

My Dad bought 20 acres + or - in Vermont in 1963. He sold 31 surveyed acres in 1980. The land did not grow, the Universe did not expand that much. Some adjacent landowner lost 10 acres.

In a lot of places people are finding out that the measurement to the "stump" is iffy. The oak tree that was there in 1860 is gone. The first person who surveys and gets a surveyed, legal, recorded deed owns the land. Instrumental surveys are good, but unfortunately in some areas surveys depend on temporal features such as river boundaries.

Wonred, I assume you are asking HomeBrew2 if he has an owners manual??? Under his name is the word "banned" and his last post was in 2007. So he will not be replying to you :( He may still be around some of the other tractor forums, I don't know.

And welcome to TBN!!!
