I live in a small town and the licensed plumber passed away so please do not suggest I hire one. The city says I can make the connection if I pay them a $50 fee.
The local plumbers could not get past the tree roots in the sewer line for my shop. The pipes were full of roots and it was connected to another old building that no longer has water. Last winter the city replaced the sewer main in the alley and my old, bad, sewer did not get connected to the new main. We did get the city to put a 4" vertical pipe/riser on the main that we can tap into. The main is about 10 feet down but the riser comes nearly to the surface above the main.
The line exits the shop at most 1 foot below grade. I plan to put a 90 degree bend with with cleanout next to the building to drop the pipe down several feet. I am thinking the top should be a 90 tee. What I am wondering about is the bottom 90. Should it be a sweep elbow or a tight 90. The sweep would make cleaning it out easier but I am wondering if sewage will hang up on it and cause clogs.
