The manual is not real clear on this. Could one of you seasoned members please shed some light. Thank, you

Get your backhoe to where you want to drop it, put the stailizers down, put the bucket down on the ground and adjust the levers to take the pressure off of the pins holding the BH on.
Remove the pins and carefull pull the tractor forward just enough to separate from the BH without pulling on the hydro hoses.
Now shut off the tractor, move the loader joystick around, and the BH levers around to release all the pressure in the lines. Now you can safely disconnect the BH hoses. If you don't release the pressure, when you go to hook back up, you'll have a hard time getting the quick disconnects back on.
With the hoses disconnected, you can restart the tractor and drive off.

How wobbily is the unit when you drive away? Do I need to worry about it blowing over or falling on my kids?
How about reinstalling the unit? Whats the procedure for getting everything linedup up?

I think you should have titled this Backhoe installation/removal! LOL
I sit my BH down on a heavy pallet with the stabilizers down and just before you disconnect the hoses ( I forgot to tell you this part)
lower the backhoe and subframe down all the way. It will be stabil then. Then shut off the tractor, release the pressure on the hoses and disconnect, move away from the tractor.
To reconnect, simply back straight up over the subframe to just before where it slides into the rear bracket. You'll need room to raise it up to the bracket. Now turn off the tractor, release the pressure by moving the loader joystick around until there's no loader movement, hook up the hoses, restart the tractor and adjust the stabilizers and bucket to level the subframe to the hooks and back up the tractor to put the subframe into the mounts. It takes a little practice, but it's not difficult. Put the pins in the subframe and raise the BH boom up, you're ready to go. The most difficult part is usually just getting the subframe at the right level for backing into the mounts.

Should you not put blocks under the bh to keep it up to make re-attachment easier?

I don't use any, and see no reason for it since after you hook up the hoses, you set the backhoe where you want it by using the control levers. Very easy, and not a lot of extra equipment necessary.

i use a few old tires, helps raise up the unit to where i can easiliy re-install.

and if you happen to relieve the pressure (as KiotiJohn pointed out, just move the joysticks around prior to removing the hoses), you'll need channel locks to relieve the pressure on the valves (DO NOT look into the valve as you release the pressure.. and be ready to have a small hydo fluid hand wash).

I use a hydraulic car jack to relieve pressure on the pins and then separate the BH from the tractor. Then I use jack stands and a piece of 4x4 to rest it on after separation. (See attachment.)

How about the stability of the parked BH unit. I've got little ones that, like their mom, seem to get into everything. Will they knock it over? I need to have the BH secure to prevent an injury.

It's pretty stable. I wouldn't leave the little ones unattended around it though as there is always the possibility of something happening.
