2001 Kioti DK35
Has anyone been able to cross a major brand oil filter to the DK 35 oil filter. I've asked WIX and Amsol and they said no. The only reason I ask this is to find a cheaper filter because the Kioti filter cost 9.95.

$9.95 is not a bad price for a Kioti filter a will fit is gonna be at least 7 or 8 bucks

Not too sure that I would trust an "I Think", but here is all I could come up with: Kioti lists oil filter E6201-32443 for the LK3054, LK3504 and the DK45. I could not find a listing for the DK35, but "I Think" it would also be the same. You could check the number for the filter in your manual. If it is the same E6201-32443 then, WIX filter # is 51182, which they list for the LK3054 and LK3504. Their list is not current enough for the new DK's. If your oil filter p/n matches, please post reply so we all can see if it works out.

E6201-32443 is the Kioti part number for the DK35. I forgot to mention that it also costs me $6.50 in shipping plus $9.55 for a filter which brings the cost up to $16.05. If I could get it locally for 6-8 bucks would be nice. Thanks for the info this site is very helpful.

jb start a new kioti thread since it has very few posts. tell us or show us in photos. my 3054 is a very good tractor. at 2500 rpm she really can out dig her weight. is the dk the user friendly kioti?

woodmills, i'd be glad to as soon as i can verify that the wix filter is the correct one. i have used a cross reference before thinking the filter for the 3054 and others are the same but, in fact were not. i think your filter is 3" X 3" and the dk35 filter is 3.5" x 3.5". anyway i bought one and it was to small. as far as photos, i have to borrow the camera from work and some times that's difficult. i'll post as soon as i do my research.

I made a similar request a few days ago and one of the lads said that a Wix 51324 was OK. I picked up two @ $8 each at a parts store. I held one aside of a Fram PH2 and other than the interior small holes (8 small vs 6 larger) they seem identical. The KT 45 is 100 mikles away so I can't check today. A parts store cross referenced the Wix 51324 to the PH2811 for Champion & STP brands which I suspect are made by Fram. I like the Fram Xtra Guard (claims 3X the protection) because of the black cap that you can twist off or on without using tools. The Fram Tough guard claims 6X the filter protection. I can't verify any of the claims or even if the filter is a match. I'm just passing along what I know so far. Both filters are stamped made in USA.

There is more to oil filters than size and diameter. The most crucial is the internal valve release pressure, the point at which the filter allows itself to be bypassed by the oil which would otherwise be filtered by it. This valve pressure setting is different for different filters, hence the need for different filters for different applications. For instance Scag mowers use a filter for the hydraulic oil. It is specified to NOT be replaced by automotive type filters because they are not designed to do the particular job for which the hydraulic oil filter is specified to do. That is just one example of filter specific application used by manufacturers for their equipment's specific needs.

Thanks for the info! Some of the internal valves also close to prevent drain down after the engine stops in order to expedite lubrication when the engine starts.
I noticed that you are a chain saw owner. Here in delaware we must use 10% ethanol gas except for boats. I have been having starting and running problems with my chain saws. I know about the problems and precautions but wonder what you do to avoid problems. I use fresh fuel and only mix a gallon at one time, I also use a stability addative for the fuel. I even drain the fuel in the tanks after use. I have cleaned the carbs and relpaced fuel lines and filters. Still the problems persists. Not exactly a novice, I've been cutting wood for fuel for 40+ years. Father Time is catching up to me now and I've backed off quite a bit. When possible I do use the electric chain saws but that of course isn't always possible.
BTW, what is a scag mower?

Scag in a brand of mowers. I mostly see the lawn mowing companies using them and what I've seen are zero turns.
