Went to lock the boom after working the hoe hard and found that no matter what I did I could not get the boom lock to lock onto its pins. Note that I had a while back put some grease on the locking mechanism to get it to move toward lock position without having to lift up the spring bar. The spring bar had been keeping it from moving to lock position by using the lever handle; which as I understood it is what one is supposed to do to engage the lock onto the pins. Today and other recent times the lock assy has gone from not wanting to move without releasing the spring with my other hand to the lock ears dropping down to lock position while operating the hoe vigorously. I noticed today when I was trying to bring the boom back to near upright I couldn't, and looked down to see the lock mechanism in the way of retracting the boom. Long story short, I think I bent the ears with pressure from the boom trying to go to upright position and I haven't been able to figure out how to get them back into proper position! I've tried a prybar- no go. I tried a chain from the ears to the bucket and curling the bucket- no go.
Only thing I can think of now is to cut the ears to fit the pins, but obviously I'd rather avoid that route if at all possible. Anyone else run into this dilemma? If so any ideas on how to fix?
TIA for ideas!
