I need some information and ideas. Last night I was using a tiller and after some use, I found the PTO was engaging very hard. Then after a while longer when I would clutch the tractor at the end of the row, it would continue to push the tractor like the PTO was not dis-engaging. I could turn off the PTO and make it stop. I am able to change gears in the transmission as normal.
My question is I assume the clutch a 2-Stage clutch, that full down should stop the PTO, What is the procedure to adjust the clutch, or do I have some kind of internal Problem??? Thanks for any ideas or help!!!!

You have a live PTO; your clutch is single stage. When you turn your PTO on your are hydraulically engaging a PTO clutch pack. Your transmission clutch has no affect on your PTO clutch.

Do you engage your PTO at low idle? This is the best way to engage it. Might try setting your PTO to the auto position and at the end of each row raise the 3-pt up, this will stop the PTO. I haven't done much tilling work so maybe someone who has can chime in and make a suggestion on the best way.

Like Jon said. You have Independant PTO with a single stage clutch.
As long as your PTO switch is turned on the PTO with continue to run.
Clutch peddle will have no affect on the PTO.
I only engage my PTO at idle..

Jon,
I have tryed that before with my DK 35 when tilling.
The problem I ran into was my tiller was already in the ground before the auto PTO would switch on. (not good)
The automatic switch would need to be adjusted up higher for it to work.

First of all thanks for the clearing me up on the single stage clutch and that it engages a hydraulic clutch pack. That makes more sense as to how things work on this tractor.

As to why it would continue to push the tractor when the clutch was depressed, any ideas, I am confused. If they are indeed separate, then I can't explain why this would happen.

Also as Vince said, I only engage the PTO at Idle speed. And as I noted, it seemed to start engaging hard. As things heat up, perhaps the clearance gets smaller and the clutch engages quicker, therefore harder???

I have planned on doing quite a bit of bush hogging this summer, I wonder if this is going to be a problem?
