Kioti DK35 TLB
HI everyone. I'm trying to figure out what my machine weighs. Based on the kioti website the tractor is just under 3500 lbs. The loader is just under 800 lbs. The backhoe is 1100 lbs. Giving a total of just about 5400 lbs. Is this right?? Seems a lot heavier than that to me. The guy I bought it from estimated it weighed near 9000 lbs. Anyone know for sure?

5400lbs sounds about right to me. You have the individual weights, why do you feel that it is heavier than that? A 9000lb tractor rig is quite a bit larger than your DK.

Trust the specs from Kioti.

The guy that gave me the weight has lots of large equipment and class A required rigs for towing them around. Didn't have a reason to question what he said until I started looking for a trailer to tow it. Based on what he said I was looking for a 12K pound trailer. After doing my own research it seems even a 10K pound is overkill.

Problem is that the next size down may be too small. A 7500 lb trailer will weigh 2000 lbs or more. That puts you at 7400 lbs, without fuel, chains, and anything else you might want to haul. Then if you want to go with loaded tires, add another 600+ lbs. Also, backhoe specs often do not include the bucket. I went through this with my CK and came to the conclusion that a 7500 lb trailer was very marginal.

I see what you are saying about it being very close to being too small. My only thought here is I already have a 7K pound trailer that I think would work great as long as I don't have the backhoe on. Most of the jobs I'll be taking the tractor to wont require the backhoe which will shave off another 1100lbs. That'll bring my weight down to 4300lbs roughly.

I bought a 10k trailer for my CK30. By the time you add one 3pt implement to the tractor or filled tires to even a CK30 you will be overloading a 7000lb trailer. Your 5400 lb machine + loader puts you overweight on a 7000 lb trailer before you can even get any work done. You do realize that you are supposed to have something on the rear when doing loader work right?

If anything, I find the Kioti specs lower than actual but I also know that a full sized case 580 backhoe is up near 10,000# so 9000 is way too high for your machine.

You'll want a 10k or larger trailer. The quality is almost always better, the build of the trailer is MUCH stouter, and you will have a margin of safety vs. the ragged edge of death every time you tow. Then there is the whole liability thing where any wreck be it fender bender or killing a family will be your fault because you were "overloaded" and so guilty.

OK. Then how much does your trailer weigh? Chains and binders (150 lbs), fuel (80 lbs), plus whatever else you have on there (implements, spare tire, extra fuel). So, unless your trailer is under 1500 lbs, you would not be legal, nor safe.

5400lbs is the total weight of the machine including loader and backhoe. Yes I know its better to have counter weight in the rear when using the loader. The only work I have lined up for the machine is mowing with a brush hog. The machine weighs 3500lbs and the hog weighs 600lbs. Thats 4100lbs, The trailer weighs 2050lbs. Subtract that from the 7K and my payload is 4950lbs minus say 100lbs worth of chain/binders. So I'm still well within the abilities of the trailer and not overloaded. I have no intent to ever load my tires so that's not an issue either.
