I know I need to pick up a manual, but can someone tell me how to bleed the air from the fuel lines on my DK40SE? I want to change the the fuel filter. The previous owner gave me a new one when I bought it. Thanks!

I'm sure a member with a DK40 will answer you but I believe they are all the same when changing the fuel filter. At the top of the filter assembly is a valve with small lever to turn. It has three positions of off, on, and air which should be marked. After changing the filter, turn the valve to air and start the tractor. It will self bleed the air and after a few minutes, turn it to on and you should be good. I prefill my filter container a little to make it go faster. There is no need to crack open the lines from the injector pump to each injector unless you did a repair.

I just turn the valve to off, remove old and add new filter, then turn valve to on and crank engine. Starts right up. Adding fuel to new filter after inserting it into plastic/glass? fuel bowl can't hurt, and might make it easier to purge the air out of the dry filter. You can do what was already detailed above if there is still air in the lines and reasonable level of cranking doesn't get it started.
Post back results.

Clean the outside area around the fuel filter well. Close the fuel cock (turn forward). Unscrew the ring, and carefully drop the bowl, watch out for the spring and the two O rings. be sure to watch for the big O ring at the top, it may fall out with the filter or may stick up in there. Be sure to fill the bowl about 1/2 to 2/3 full with clean fuel when you reassemble the parts in the correct order. and when you turn the Fuel cock over to the air side (back) and crank the engine and let it run until the filter is full of fuel, then turn it the fuel cock back to on (down) and the engine hopefully it will not die, but keep on running. Mine kept running, and I did not have to open the bleed bolt on the injector or bleed the injector lines. You still might be ahead too look at the manual so you understand the parts inside the fuel bowl, and how they fit together. But I didn't have any trouble.

This should be covered in your owner's manual. Your SE is different from my 45S but there should be a valve or bleeder screw near the top of the fuel filter. My 45S will gravity bleed with a reasonable amount of fuel in the tank. Read your owners' manual, it's important. Buy one from any dealer if if one didn't come with the tractor. In case you are stuck right now, I think this describes bleeding on your machine: http://pt709.synology.me/bleed.pdf

I hope someone doesn't take the instructions in that link too literally. It says: "Breed the system with the cock in the fuel filter."

Hmmmm.

Well. some of these things just don't translate too well. and I it seems they didn't hire a proofreader.

Cock, as in petcock, from the word describing a turnable valve, with an open and closed position. Breed, as in misspelling of bleed, from The Rolling Stones, Let IT Bleed album. Album, as in something made of vinyl, before CD and after 8 tracks and cassette tapes. :D

This is off topic but it seems that Kioti USA could earn their keep by improving the tech data. This SE owners' manual (that the page came from) is excellent compared to the service manual for my 45S.
