Don't forget the key switch. I had the same symptoms - sometimes I could get it to start and other times no-go. It drove me nuts checking everything. Finally, based on advise of several others on this site, I pulled the ignition switch, took it apart and cleaned it up. It was full of gunky stuff (360hours). After putting it back together - no problem. It's easy to do and mine only went together one way. Take care of shooting the little springs and ball bearings when/if
