Kioti DK45S
Now that summer is here, I'm again thinking about getting a canopy for the tractor. I guess the big question is metal, plastic, or fabric. I have limited clearance under my shed roof so I can't go more than an inch or two above the ROPS. I'm interested in the advice and experience of others here.

I have built a few canopys. I am a fabricator so always metal. I like the idea of not having to worry about branches/trees hitting me. Rubber mounted most of them for flex and crack resistance [ 1 was on a dozer] CJ

I have a 45se and wanted something I could tow 70 MPH and hit some light trees with, did not want metal because of weight. Fiberglass or plastic concerned me because of trees and brush. Check out TEL-TRAX. The make a great aluminum one, looks good with orange also. I see you are in NC also. They dont sell direct but send delivery trucks to dealers in our area once a week. I picked mine up at Senter Tractor in Raleigh. Paid $455.00 last year at this time. I would recommend it.

Just a follow up. I talked to Wells AG people, they have a good product. Shipping to NC was very expensive a few 100.00 if I remember. They told me Tel-Trax sell all the metal ones on this side of the country, they sell almost all on West side. Tel Trax is metal with aluminum diamond plate cap.

Thanks for the inputs. Now that MotorSeven mentioned it, I recall the thread last year. Looks like they are all sold only through dealers? I guess I need to call some of the nearby surviving dealers to see what they sell.

Why don't you make your own? I have a DK45 and built mine from U-bolts, plywood, elastomeric waterproof paint, EMT conduit, etc. Sounds a little redneck but it was cheap and works great. You can attach the front to FEL mounts and the back to the ROPS. Here are a few pics:

Yes, indeed, mine has served faithfully and does not protrude much higher than the top of the ROPS, so I can still get it into my garage/shop bay without breaking anything. I do have to make sure there is no snow buildup as I come across the threshold, or I might hit the door as I enter. Some fine adjustment and hard cranking on the bolts, to keep everything in place, puts it just where I need so I can stand as I mount the tractor to sit; while not hitting my head on the subframe.
Once you go there it's next best to a cab, but not all the caged in feeling, if you use it the woods and such.:dance1:

I purchased the Kioti supplied one for my DK55. It's fiberglass and seems rather light. It lists for $400 but the dealer sold it to me for $300 since I was buying a new tractor. If it breaks I will build my own.

I moved the mirror down to the loader bracket on the left and bought a bigger one at the truck stop. I kept bending it up on top with tree limbs. I have about 5 acres of woods I cleaned up and mow once or twice a year. The top is 1/4 inch plexi glass painted kioti orange and the braces came off a satellite dish. Yes I was stuck, that was the first time so I took the picture. Walked to the house and got the NH LB75B and pulled it out. Funny thing was I was just joy riding and slid down in the ditch. Oops..
