DK45S PTO Shaft Cover

I understand that there is a cover to keep the PTO shaft clean when there is nothing attached to it. I bought my tractor used and it did not include this cover. Also, my local Kioti dealer is no longer in business. Now I'm doing some grader work and dirt is stuck to the grease on the PTO shaft. I can clean it off, of course, but it got me thinking about this cover.

Can anyone tell me about this cover? Is it worthwhile? How does it attach to the tractor?

If it's the same on as on my Kioti, it's a plastic cup device with a long butterfly screw. they are around $15.00

Dk covers do not have a screw but instead they have a cup with with threads on the open side that screws to the tractor.

??? - I'm not sure about that Sawworcs - my Kioti is a DK45HST. Maybe it depends on the year of the tractor. The drawing is the one on my tractor.

From what I see on my DK45S, I think it's more like the device Doug described because I don't see any large diameter threads but I do see what may be a hole for the long butterfly screw. I looked up the cover online and it was about $100. So maybe it is a metal version of the plastic device Doug described.

I'm considering making a cover from PVC pipe and holding it in place with a bungee. I normally have a mower on the 3PH but occasionally I need to do some grading and sometimes dirt flies.

Hate to remove a couple bolts to use PTO on my TYM T450 , so got a short piece of hose from Mills Fleet Farm; grease PTO shaft and slide the hose on ( has not fallen off yet)

I have a spare cover and bolt. PM me and we can work out a better deal than what the dealer wants for it, I'm sure.

My 2006 DK45S had a rubber sleeve that went over the PTO shaft...until the time I left it on the rear fender and haven't seen it since.

Go to Kubota dealer and get the simple push on soft rubber sleeve for an L3400. I doubt it would be very much, as it doesnt amount to much, but it would work fine. All brands are the same size If you really want the Kioti hard plastic one with the screw, I will sell you mine.
