This has come up before. Sounds like you bought a "new" tractor with 24 hours on it. I'm curious why you didn't bring that up when negotiating the price since you knew it had that many. Unless it's showing 1/10ths, in which case, 2.4 hours is pretty reasonable.
At the time of looking at the tractor I did't pay very close attention to the meter showing 24 hours. Then After signing the papers I took the owners manual and left the tractor to have a 3rd function installed. After reading the manual it clearly said that the last digit is 1/10's so not having the tractor to look at I only remembered seeing 2 digits so OK 2.4 hours no prob.
Now as far as price, They gave a better price among 3 dealers (maybe due to the hours).
After reading this I have contacted the dealer we talked about it and they were very nice about the situation, They assured me that YES it did have 24 hours on it (it was used as a trailer mover), yes it was reflected in the price (and I believe it was, 2k lower than the best price from another dealer), and they without hesitation offered to either perform the 50hr service if I brought it in at no charge or supply the parts if I do it myself.
All in All It was more of an over site on my part and I the dealer has certainly satisfied me in their honesty and willingness to "make it right". I don't feel like they were trying to pull one over on me at all I was /am so excited to buy a new tractor that I over looked the hour meter.
In all honesty with a family, full time job, and other yard work it will take me quite a while to rack up the 50 hours, and the tractor even with 24 hrs on it is super clean, with brand new tires on it (must have had r1's on it and I got r4's) I'm still stoked and its an AWESOME machine:thumbsup:!
