I'm getting ready to order filters for my next service, and doing an internet search for "Kioti filters" I found a couple of places that sell an "inner" air filter (part number E7230-11091) for the DKSE series. When I did my 50-hour service the kit I bought only came with what is apparently the "outer" air filter (part number E7230-11081).

I don't want to buy anything that I don't really need...I was curious if anyone is using both air filters, and if there are specific conditions that caused you to do that? Our property is pretty sandy but I don't do any brush hogging at all, mainly disking and pulling a double-edge grader for road maintenance.

Thanks in advance for any info.

An inner filter can't hurt.
I would put it in.
My older model DK has an inner and outer filter.

Do you definitely need the inner filter...no, but extra filtration is always nice. I added it to mine with no change in power.

You don't mention if you presently have an inner filter on yours. If you do I would just replace the outer since the inner filter won't see much dirt. I have a 2002 Dk40 and have never replaced the inner and regularly just clean the inner/outer filters.
I imagine that Texas can be a little dustier than NY so your conditions might demand more vigilance in the air cleaner department...Mike.

Inner filters don't need replaced very often. As long as the outer filter is working properly the inner filter shouldn't get dirty.

Thanks to all. I do not currently have the inner filter & thought the trade-off of cleaner air / more restricted airflow was worth asking about. Sounds like I should look at installing the inner.

A little restriction will reduce max power, a little. A little dirt will ruin an engine. Diesels are particularly vulnerable to this because they ingest so much air (no throttle to restrict flow).

My dk40 only came with 1 air filter. Did the older DK's have both an inner and outer?

What does your owners manual say. I would do what it recommends. Air filters are cheap insurance.

Why would you want to take somebodies "opinion" over what the manufacturer recommends??

l think in the above post that grm61 links I gave the inner pn# I now have close to 600 hours on the tractor with no issues. The Bobcat brand comes from the factory with the inner element, that is where I found the part number. Like I stated in the link I have never worked on a piece of heavy equipment that did not have a inner and outer element. When I purchased my D3 cat dozer it had the outer element partially failed, if it did not have a inner I am sure the engine would not have been in good shape considering the dirt packed in the inner element. Cheap insurance. CJ

My NX didn't come with a inner either, I added it just to have a bit of extra protection.
