I am coming back to the pack!
:wolf:
Back in 2007 the Missus and I left a good job in the city, (working for the "man" every night and day).
Picked up 38 acres in the Bluegrass and through much review of this site, (thank you fellow and fellowess(?) TNBers - special shout out to Mr. Chisti), I ended up with a DK45HST.
It was perfect for our needs.

You folk do know your business and gave great guidance.
Even the Missus whom previously said emphatically "No way!" is now on board, (literally) with driving the tractor, thank you very much HST.

Unfortunately in 2010 we had to go back to the city, back working for the "man" every night and day.
But we told ourselves we would work hard to come back.
And here we are, (to stay - fingers crossed), 40 acres near the Bluegrass, (northern KY).
Time to restock.
We kept an open mind and looked at a lot of brands based on our budget, (sorry "Green" and Japanese "Orange"), and needs; low $30K, general land maintenance of rolling hills, mostly meadow, hobby farm with potential to handle small scale baling operation if we get there, (still in discussion with the B.B.L. - Big Boss Lady - on that one, let us just say she is not very keen on the idea, we will bring this up at later dates).
But based on our previous experience with the DK45, and the offers that we received, we have scheduled and are anxiously awaiting for an April 10th delivery of a DK50HST, (open platform), w/401 loader, dual rear remotes, pallet forks, Rhinos 172 round back rotary cutter w/slip clutch, filled R4s at widest extension, (ordered an R&B dual axis inclinometer through the TBN store - it does get hilly and I am well aware that the inclinometer is only a tool to help me in establishing safety parameters, not the be-all end-all of that issue), 73" tiller, and 72" rake.
The fine folk at Little Tractor over in Illinois were very helpful and competitive and ultimately did what it took to get our business, (both times, the first tractor was also purchased from them - though not to knock the other dealers that we talked with, a lot offered good deals to consider).
So . . . .
Holy-moly and Wow-wee!
I remember my 1st delivery.
I was so hopped up about it.
There is a scene from a old Soviet silent movie, "Earth", where all of the commune folks were anxiously awaiting delivery of a tractor.
I said, yeah, I know just how you feel.
And it is back.
Seat-time.
:cool2:
Actually this would be more appropriate if it was a chimpanzee for I have been grinning and clapping like one since we have purchased the land.
:applause:
Still, I just wanted to thank all of the fine folk at this community.
I might not post a lot, but boy, do I soak up the information.
Keep up the good work and pics to follow, (April 10th hopefully????)
